For over a year now, I have submerged myself into what it takes to become a blogger. But I find pleasure in doing what I do and I do not mind working 24/7. Although, there are times when I crave for a break and it is one such day that I decided to pack my bags and spend one of my weekends at the luxurious Shivas Gateway Hotel, located in a serene area, barely 7-8 km from the Bangalore International Airport.
The day began with a warm welcome by their friendly staff, followed by their on the house English/American breakfast, at the hotel’s in-house restaurant called, ‘Ambari’. The spread had a wide variety of choices that included soft mini pancakes, live counters, to fresh fruit juices and freshly brewed coffee. For those who cannot start their day without food with a desi touch (Indian food), the buffet also has some popular North and South Indian breakfast like chhole-bhature and idli-sambar.
The four-course lunch began at around 2.00pm, with a plate of fresh chicken and bean sprouts salad, a glass of guava mocktail, followed by Drums of Heaven (Chicken) and Aloo Tikki for starters. For mains, we were served butter kulchas, dal panchamal and paneer. And just when we thought we could stuff ourselves no longer, came this gorgeous-looking fresh fruit and honey salad for dessert, which was a perfect, healthy ending to a hearty meal.
The rooms are spacious, well lit and had all the amenities with the cosiest bed and a beautiful hill view. I have to say that I had spent the most relaxed evening in my hotel room and it was only then that I realized how much I needed it.
We called it a day with a scrumptious dinner, where the restaurant served us the most gorgeous looking chicken sizzler and one of the restaurant’s specialty dishes, the Atta-Chicken (chicken wrapped in banana leaf, sealed with dough and slow roasted for a couple of hours). If the word foodgasm actually exists, I’d have to admit I had it that night! lol
Taking a break from my diurnal chores and spending time at the hotel was definitely one of my best decisions. With 24/7 round the clock service, the management is one of the friendliest and needless say, they spoilt us rotten serving the restaurants best!
The highlight of this staycation for me was the food, for every dish served was not just delectable, but somehow felt very homely too. I highly recommend the restaurant, especially for the North Indian cuisine and the chicken sizzler for its rustic, smokey flavour.
