I love winters. The fresh scent of the chill descending, walking down the streets rubbing your palms and cupping your face trying to keep them warm, furry white socks, the feeling of coming home and cozying up to Hubert (my imaginary dog) , or someone you love on the couch with a cuppa, spicy hot chicken soup for dinner and then falling asleep under your woolen blanket watching It happened one night ,or anything else you like doing, sigh. There is something about winters that makes me feel close to myself, also that it makes me so nostalgic. It has been over four years since I last visited Shillong but the winters keep the memories alive, wish they were longer here in Bangalore.
Inspiration for the look:
Along with winters, my love for anything vintage and classic is relentless. The obsession for vintage cars, fashion, classic movies and songs is strongly in-built and intrinsic. I was listening to Annette Hanshaw the other day, now most of her songs, especially I’ve got a feeling I’m falling, always takes me to another world. The era of yore fashion when women had thin eye brows, victory rolls and bumper bangs. I have been thinking of doing a shoot on a winter outfit with a hint of classic vintage for a while now and this song I believe triggered it.
Keeping the classic vintage spirit alive, I wanted to compile a look with this years fall trends in it.
About the look:
Keeping the classic vintage spirit alive, I wanted to compile a look with this years fall trends in it. Fall’2016 is about dark colors and Black being named Black Bean is one of the colors of Fall/Winter 2016, also, when it comes to giving any outfit a fine classic look, what other fabric can you think of than velvet? which happens to be the most popular fabric of the season, being used by a lot of designers for their Fall/Winter as well as Wedding collection. So I decided to don a top to bottom outfit in black velvet.
I wanted to add richness to my outfit, hence I wore this black midi skirt with stone embellishments I last purchased from my Koov’s sale haul, trying to get my winter wardrobe ready, and paired it with a glitter top from Vero Moda I bought last summer. A black ruffled collared velvet jacket and gloves I thought would be cherries on top, for it firmly serves the purpose of this post being about a classic vintage winter outfit.
I did my hair and make up as per the on-going trend as well, simple hair-styles with creative, crazy eyes and nude lips or vice versa. I chose to go for wine-red lips and nude eyes for obvious reasons that classic women liked their lips dark and plush.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this look and if there are trends in mind you’d like to see. Do drop in your comments below.
